IT Ministry and Google to Launch CS First Program in Pakistan

Ministry of Information Technology and Google have decided to launch the CS First Program in Pakistan. The Ministry of IT and Google will put their joint effort to launch the first “local coding skills development program” by introducing the CS First program. These skills are specially for the kids of age 9 to age 14. The aim of the program is to develop the skills of coding.

IT Ministry and Google to Launch CS First Program in Pakistan

The Ministry of Information Technology and Google have decided to launch the CS First Program in Pakistan. This program will be launched nationwide to help the children learn about the computer and gain some knowledge about Information technology. These basic skills will make children able to learn about technology. These technical skills will help them in the future.  The Ministry of IT and Google will put their joint effort to launch the first “local coding skills development program” by introducing the CS First program. All these efforts will be made with the collaboration of Tech valley, Google’s implementing partners.

This program will bring digital skills to teach children about programming skills. These skills are specially for the kids of age 9 to age 14. The aim of the program is to develop the skills of coding. The program will make the young generation able to lead the generation of technology developers. CS First Program will equip the young generation with enough knowledge to think creatively and technically.

Basically, the program is divided into two parts. First of all, under the program “Train the Trainer,” the teachers will be trained to know about all the things related to the program and to make them able to deliver their best. Secondly, the teachers will start teaching the children about basic programming skills. This is the best initiative taken by the IT Ministry, as it will ensure the growth of IT skills among the nation.

The Federal Secretary of IT Ministry, Mr. Shoaib Ahmed Siddique, said that this program is an initiative following the vision of the incumbent Government to make Pakistan a Digital country.

CS First Program is teaching the children in 75 countries across the world, and now Pakistan is also a part of it. This program is powered by Scratch, a block-based visual programming language developed by MIT, especially to assist children to comprehend basic program design concepts.

The CEO of Tech Valley, Mr. Umar Farooq, said that the CS First Program is the dream coming true for Digital Pakistan. Moreover, he showed his concern that the Tech Valley is ready to work with the IT Ministry and Google to launch this CS First Program. He said that it is the right time to start this Program as Pakistan is seeking digital solutions for the educational institutes to conduct their classes and do their work digitally.

The first round of the program will be applied in telecom foundation schools with an experiment at three educational institutions located in the country's top cities before extending it to 13 campuses. And Tech Valley will be in charge of the whole delivery of the software program.

The CS First program will help the schools to develop a joined curriculum, making it easier to adopt CS courses like this one on a constant basis. CS First Program and will be based on games and other fun activities to assist kids to study the elementary computer science concepts and to aid them in developing the coding skills.
