China has announced to provide over 2 Billion to Pakistan for Smart University Project. The project is part of CPEC. Higher Education Commission stated that this project intends to equipping universities with “blanket wifi coverage.” This project helps universities by introducing advanced digital technologies for an attractive academic environment.
As we know, there is a situation of complete lockdown in our country due to COVID 19. We are facing many problems due to lockdown because we are bound to our houses and cannot go out for work. Even students cannot go to their educational sectors to get an education. Due to COVID 19, All educational institutions have been closed till May 31st in Pakistan. It is a great loss for the students and the institutions. In this time of critical situation, there is a need for making some projects in Pakistan so that students could get their studies online by sitting at their homes. This is the time to invest in projects like Smart University Project which was started in 2016.
China has announced to provide Rs.2 billion to Pakistan for the execution of a smart university transformation project. It emerged on Saturday. The project is a part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). So according to this project, it helps boost Pakistan’s social and economic development.
HEC, in response to these complaints, asked for detailed information to provide quality of content, delivery, and connectivity. HEC intends to transform 9 higher education institutes into smart universities.HEC has been working to minimize the impact of lockdown on academic activities and has allowed digitally advanced universities to start offering online classes as soon as possible. HEC also asked universities for the training of staff members on the best online academic lectures.
This project was accepted in 2015 and started in 2016, and the project is to contemplate by 2024, per commission estimate.
Higher Education Commission stated that this project intends to equipping universities with “blanket WIFI coverage.” This term was used for providing the best internet coverage at homes to cope up with problems of internet speed during online classes. Recently, universities in Pakistan announced to cancel online classes due to problems that they were facing during online classes. Many students complained about Internet packages that data bundles are too much expensive, load shedding, remote areas, and students asked that Pakistan is not able to schedule online classes, they should stop online classes. Publications stated it includes 50 public universities in its first phase of the Pilot program.
This agreement, which was signed by two countries, states that 124 universities will be under this project. On this basis of this, some 400 smart classrooms will be assembled, with 200 in the first phase of the pilot.
This project helps universities by introducing advanced digital technologies for an attractive academic environment. This project also aims to expand distance learning in addition to promote cultural progress. And for higher education, it will also develop influence and coverage.
